  3. Al5xmo says:

@And8But Aphex is also much more versed in electronic music in general, he’s got a sort of pure philosophy about his electronics that makes his sound that much juicier

  9. funkempfang says:

@JEMORANGE maybe for your consideration, if you’ve got the time.
Listen to Frank Zappa’s Civilisation Phase III or his earlier work Lumpy Gravy!!!
Don’t get me wrong I think Squarepusher is quite a Genius ;)

  10. And8But says:

Aphex Twin, while also intelligent, is more about the heart of the music and has a bigger hip hop influence, while Squarepusher is more moved by jazz and hyper-intelligent progressions. In addition to being a hell of a bass player.

    They’re just both different. ^.^

No one masters breaks as Tom does.

  12. DonJuanDeMarco2 says:

@spase667 Its the tension and psychology of the track. Musical stimulus.
But it says something different to me now. Time changes your psych. Take advantage of that when you produce music.

  13. DonJuanDeMarco2 says:

@LIGHTRONIX Start with a tracker, grab a bunch of samples, throw a load of effects and processors into your chain. The hard/fun part is how you map it all together, the possibilities are endless. This ‘event’ triggers ‘that event’, triggers ‘that event’ and so on. Use randomisers, automaters, or it do it manually.
Start off simple and map a load of samples across a keyboard and experiment in ways to trigger them. I find Effectrix and dBlue Glitch good for basic inspiration.

  14. spase667 says:

    @DonJuanDeMarco2 what

  15. randykid7 says:

I never thought I would say this but I think this blows aphex twin out of the fucking water!

  16. dimebag690 says:

@srpazoozoo and a shit load of patience!

  17. Djdjipe says:

i wish he would make more of this instead of those random boring jazzy tracks.

this is the work of a genius

  18. srpazoozoo says:

@LIGHTRONIX He uses a bunch of different equipment haha. be it his mixer, his bass, his keyboards, or his reaktor programs that he programmed himself. basically the only answer is his gift :P

  19. LIGHTRONIX says:

I consider myself to be pretty knowledgable when it comes to electronic music production… but I wouldn’t have the slightest clue how to go about making a track like this. Does anyone have any idea what tom uses for editing and putting together all the different parts?

  20. 4REBS2 says:

  24. tomsega says:

I like to think you need to listen to ambient techno the same way one would listen to jazz…

  25. bravetoastr says:

0_0 craziest shit ever. i know my shit, but couldn’t tell you the first thing about how to make a track like this
