Professor Arthur Leonard of New York Law School shares why “It Gets Better.” Professor Arthur S. Leonard earned his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, received his law degree from Harvard, and has been teaching at NYLS since 1982. He is the editor of Lesbian/Gay Law Notes, instrumental in chronicling legal aspects of lesbian and gay community, is a regular broadcast and newspaper commentator on labor and employment law, AIDS law, and homosexuality and the law. Professor Leonard received the prestigious 2005 Dan Bradley Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Lesbian and Gay Law Association in recognition of his significant contributions to the advance of LGBT rights under the law.

Nitte Santosh Hegde is a former justice of the Supreme Court Of India, who was until recently, the Lokayukta (ombudsman) for Karnataka. Known for his integrity, Hegde resigned from the Lokayukta position citing a non-cooperative Government of Karnataka in dealing with corruption. He was born on 16 June 1940 at Nitte village in Udupi district.[1] He is son of former speaker of Loksabha and justice Mr. KS Hegde. He had his early education at St. Aloysius School in Mangalore and Madras Christian College in Madras. He completed his intermediate exam from St. Joseph college and BSc degree from Central College, Bengaluru. He graduated with a law degree from Government Law College (now known as University Law College), Bangalore in 1965. After completing apprenticeship training, He enrolled as an advocate in January 1966 and was designated as senior advocate in May 1984. He was appointed as the Advocate General for the state of Karnataka in February 1984 and held that position till August 1988. He worked as additional Solicitor General of the union of India from December 1989 to November 1990. He was Re-appointed as the solicitor General of India on 25-04-1998. Nitte Santosh Hegde was appointed as a Judge of Supreme Court of India on 08-01-1999. He retired as judge of Supreme Court Of India in June 2005. The Hon. John William Snow (JD ’67), who served as the 73rd United States Secretary of the Treasury, has been an influential figure not only in the United States, but also the global community. Currently, Snow is president of JWS Associates, a Richmond-based consulting firm. During his tenure as Secretary of the Treasury from February 2003 to June 2006 under President George W. Bush, Snow led the Bush administration’s economic team and was its guiding voice on domestic and global economic issues. He steered the effort to pass the historic 2003 Jobs and Growth tax relief act, a signature achievement which significantly lowered tax rates on individuals, as well as on capital investment, leading to the strong economic recovery enjoyed during his tenure. Internationally, he initiated new tactics to tackle the financial war on terror and founded an office dedicated to that task at the US Department of the Treasury. Prior to joining the Bush administration, Snow served as chairman, president, and chief executive officer of CSX Corporation, a global transportation company, for over a decade. Snow served in several senior roles at the US Department of Transportation under President Gerald Ford where he led the administration’s efforts to deregulate the transportation industry.
