An associates degree in accounting won’t do a whole lot for you, as far as excelling to a top position in the accounting profession. You will at least need a bachelors degree and now an extra 30 units on top of that in order to sit for the CPA exam. However, I do not believe that you need post-baccalaureate education to become a CMA. I’d say that the farthest you could go with only an associates degree is probably to the position of staff accountant. You should at least go for the bachelors.
